Inflammatory Acne

When inflammation takes centre stage.

Inflammatory acne occurs when a blocked follicle becomes inflamed, creating the red, swollen and sometimes painful pimples we recognise as breakouts. This can happen when excess oil, dead skin cells and changes within the follicle create an environment where inflammation develops. For some people, hormones are a major driver. For others, stress, products, medications, lifestyle or the way their skin responds to bacteria and oil may contribute. And yes, adult acne is incredibly common, particularly when hormonal changes begin to shift through our 30s, 40s and beyond. Our approach is to calm the inflammatory response, support healthy cell turnover, regulate congestion and protect the skin barrier rather than simply drying everything out. Because irritated, stripped skin isn't healthier skin, and aggressive treatment can sometimes make the cycle harder to manage.

Once we understand what’s contributing to your breakouts and have a plan in place, two of our favourite treatments for helping to clear, calm and support acne-prone skin are Oxygen RX and LED Light Therapy.

Oxygen RX

Calm, clarify and oxygenate.

Oxygen RX is a powerful option for acne-prone skin because it combines oxygen therapy with a controlled enzymatic reaction to help address congestion and inflammatory breakouts. It can help create a less favourable environment for acne-causing bacteria while supporting circulation and leaving the skin clearer, calmer and refreshed. We particularly love it when the skin needs correction without aggressive extraction or stripping.

LED Light Therapy

Calm the inflammation. Support the skin’s repair.

LED is a beautiful addition to acne treatments because specific wavelengths of light can influence cellular activity and help reduce inflammation, support skin repair and create a healthier environment for the skin to recover. It’s particularly useful after corrective treatments, helping to settle the skin while supporting its natural healing process.

Together, Oxygen RX and LED give us a powerful combination, one helps actively address the acne environment, while the other helps calm and support the skin through the repair process, we offer both of these in our Delilah Mae Method Rituals.
